’Finally the west Country rises up to throw off the yoke of Northern domination of the music Industry, with ’The Hitchcock Rules’ leading the revolution....’ Nick Mason – Pink Floyd
Cyba-X
They were with us in 2000 and they're back in 2009 having just re-formed. With new ryhthm man Phil Wilson who enjoyed playing so much last year with 'Mud' he's joined the jump-jivers for another dose !
The Swanvesta Social Club
www.lemonrock.com/swanvesta
www.myspace.com/swanvestasocialclub
Presenting the sounds of St Albans Latin Quarter !! “A joyfully inauthentic but raucous mix of Cuban rhythm and Brit pop.” Great energy and a whole lot of fun.
Dyframix
One of UK’s leading didge players working with great DJ, together creating an experimental dance music experience based on the sounds and shapes of the didgeridoo
The Soundcasters
www.myspace.com/thesoundcastersmusic
A young indie band with a 60's feel and great songs. We love e'm!. Remember where you heard them first !
The Ladders
www.myspace.com/dannyconnorsmusic
Seen opening for Paul Weller on tour and founded by Danny Connors (of the On Offs), this band moves “through scallydelica, 60s Kinks-ish pop, reggae-lite, punkish new wave and even rap”. Very creative and very accessible. We do like!
Poppy Seed
www.myspace.com/poppyseedpoetry
As a pioneer of the ’Spoken Soul’ genre and on the cusp of poetry and song, Poppy Seed takes performance poetry to a new level. A great hit with the Togfest audience in 2006, we are very pleased to welcome back the band.
Soundsphere
www.myspace.com/soundspheremyspace
Four outstanding female voices spiced with fiery percussion. “Divine vocals.” “Driving Rhythms.” “Delicious harmonies.” A unique sound experience.
The 7.20s
Formed in 2008, the 7:20s “create a massive music-scape of hypnotic sounds, jumping bass, pounding drums, "come on" singing and beautiful noises from guitars and keyboards”.
Futuretown
Pop rock with melodic guitars “that make you sway with appreciation” and stunningly good vocals as well. *** Hot news: Just signed to a three year publishing deal with MCS / Conexion Music
Mind Warp Pavillion
Performing songs from the concept album ‘Invisible Friend’ (written by Dave Wilkinson). Largely in the style of seventies glam rock, this music takes you back to the “era of Bowie, Bolan, feather boas, Pink Floyd-ian prog and balls-out rock”
Robinson
Robinson is a cool, acoustic musician with a slightly husky voice for his beautiful, sweet melodies. As an artist, he appears to be one of those rare finds, that is just moments away from hurtling into mainstream music mania.
We look forward to sampling some at Togfest !!
Tom, Dick & Harry
Don’t be fooled by the name. Every now and then you come across three young talented ladies that are committed to something different…. traditional music. With fiddle, flute, bodhran and vocals T, D &H deliver everything from lively jigs to haunting ballads. We had the good fortune to catch a live performance of this new trio recently and were blown away! We think you will be too.
Yan Yates
A prolific writer and performer, this singer songwriter is currently making a splash on the London scene with his unique “nu-folk” sound. A blend of acoustic country music with blues influences and modern day lyrics.
Chichino
Inspired by Pop, Soul and Funk legends, Chichino have crafted a breezy sound of their own. Having already shared the bill with acts such as Rose Royce, Jaki Graham, Basshunter and Richard Hawley and enjoying collaborations with Right Said Fred, we are delighted that Chichino will be adding Togfest to their impressive list of festival appearances.
Bare Bones Boogie Band
www.myspace.com/barebonesboogieband
Blues & Rock from the Heart, Soul & Beyond. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face and a rhythm through your body.
The Spreadeagles
What can we say? – A supergroup of the finest ‘talons’ delivering some classic magic....
...the pure essence of The Eagles experience, stripped of the drugs, the fistfights... and the hair, which marred the original....
Chrystina Tomlin
www.myspace.com/chrystinatomlinmusic
Local girl: Chrystina Tomlin brings to the stage a fresh, explosive performance, with lyrics shooting slightly below the belt, musical influences from Alanis Morissette, Pink and KT Tunstall.
Ross and the Wrongens
www.myspace.com/rossandthewrongens
"a great young indie pop rock band, with a 60's feel and some great tunes, from all over Kent..." BBC Radio Kent.
Jon Nickoll
If ever anyone was a hundred people in one, Jon Nickoll is that kind. A massively in demand performer, a composer of film soundtracks, a producer, a bit of a singer's singer and a multi instrumentalist. With his admirers including Amy Winehouse, Paul McCartney and Paul Anka, you're in good company. 2009 saw the release of his debut studio album "Cinema Music," already gaining glowing reviews in the press.
Tin Soldiers
www.myspace.com/tinsoldiersband
Chugging guitars, explosive time changes, like Muse playing proper pop songs with Dave Grohl at the volume control. As you can imagine melodies are rife, guitars spin off and drums are given a good kicking, indeed frenetic dancing and weird shapes are often thrown as a result.
Young Runaways
Orchestral Indie-folk from the West Midlands, think Arcade Fire having a picnic with James Taylor. Recently made their Glastonbury debut, their first album 'The Boy & The Beartrap' due to be released this Autumn.
The Private Side
http://www.myspace.com/theprivatesideband
After setting The Westcountry ablaze, The Private Side bring their smoldering mix of anthemic Pop Rock and Barrio rhythms to Togfest. Without a doubt a band destined for exciting times!
Nikki Loy
Certainly an artist to watch out for! A singer/songwriter with a voice that can soar as well as it can rock voice and a beautiful selection of songs that are both delicate and powerful. “Simply a joy to see” - Bermuda Square Effect
Hoopy Frood
Psychedelic electro-groove, rock, world beat percussion, reggae, dub, jazz and more. Previewing their new album “Indigo”
Sian Magill & Jack Chesney
Sian and Jack are a unique duo, who play acoustically based, singer/songwriter type music. Both play guitar and harmonise, with well crafted songs and emotive lyrics far beyond thier 16 years.
Insurrection
Insurrection are a well established Milton Keynes based band with a healthy record of gigs around Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire. Comprising the classic power trio line up of guitar bass and drums, the boys repeatedly satisfy audiences with their mix of self penned originals and classic covers.
Vocal duties are shared by charismatic lead guitarist Martin Crane and prolific local bass player Colin Kempster, who works in tandem with drummer Phil Millichamp to provide a solid, driving canvas for Martin’s guitar pyrotechnics.
